WELCOME TO BCLGA!

Whether you are new to golf, a low handicap player or somewhere in between, this website will give you everything you need to know about women’s golf in Berkshire.

As a county golf association we are part of the wider structure linking golfers and clubs to England Golf – the umbrella organisation responsible for men’s and women’s golf at regional and national level in England.

BCLGA is run by a committee of volunteers with the aim of promoting golf for women and girls from beginners right through to elite players. The association organises a calendar of events each year: these include competitions for members of affiliated clubs and matches for 1st, 2nd, Junior and Senior teams.

The highlight of the year is County Week in June, when the 1st teams of the six counties of our Midlands South region battle it out over five days of foursomes and singles matchplay golf, providing a wonderful spectator opportunity for golf fans.

We invite you to visit the different sections of this website to learn more about BCLGA, download competition entry forms and start sheets, follow the teams, and generally keep up to date with news and results.

County Captain's New Year Message

Dear County Members

Cathy JonesIt was a great pleasure to meet many of you during 2016 and presenting prizes on several occasions to some very deserving winners. Well done all those who won last year and I very much hope you will all continue to support County Competitions in 2017.

You are no doubt aware by now that our 1st team squad did pretty well at County Match Week last year and what a great year it was for Berkshire. It was our turn to host the event and Temple Golf Club kindly offered their course for the week. We are very grateful to everyone at Temple for being perfect hosts and to all the Berkshire members who turned up each day to help in whatever way they could – we could not have done it without you. Feedback from the other Midland South Counties has been very positive and all are very appreciative of the way they were looked after.

County Match week this year will be hosted by Worcestershire & Herefordshire at Kings Norton Golf Club 26 – 30 June. If you get the chance to come along we would be delighted to see you and we will be trying hard to find that extra point to secure a win!

Although the weather paints a gloomy picture at the moment, it’s time to start thinking that Spring is not far away and time to start filling in entry forms for County Competitions. The entry forms are all available on the website and I hope to be presenting prizes to some new faces this year.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and successful 2017.

Cathy Jones
County Captain
